Case study · Design & Permitting

CL Designs and what runs it.

A planning & permitting firm's website — and the project pipeline behind it.

CL Designs plans and permits ADUs, homes and commercial spaces on California's Central Coast. WebsiteMike built the public site that brings the work in, then the system the firm runs it through: intake, city records, plans, consultants and signed proposals in one pipeline.

What we built

The front door.The back office.

The public site

  • 01

Six pages that sell the practice

Services for ADUs, residential, commercial and permitting; a portfolio of Central Coast projects; the firm's five-step process from consultation to construction support; testimonials; contact.

  • 02

    Built to be found

Clear service pages for the questions owners actually search — ADU design, remodels, change of occupancy, permit applications — with the process spelled out so the first call is a short one.

The system behind it

  • 01

    One pipeline for every project

Intake → city records discovery → floor plans and elevations → consultants → construction documents. Every project moves through the same stages, so nothing waits in an inbox.

  • 02

    Three sign-ins, one record

A staff panel that sees and edits everything. A client portal where owners review and sign proposals. A consultant portal for collecting a packet, writing a proposal against it, and finding the executed contract afterwards.

  • 03

The signature that starts the work

When a client signs, staff are told and the consultant is cleared to begin — one loop instead of a chain of emails. Meetings go out as Google Calendar invitations with a Meet link.

  • 04

    Their data, their accounts

The app runs on the firm's own database and sign-ins. Accounts are invited, never self-served, and the firm can open any portal as its owner to see exactly what a client sees.

// described, not screenshotted — a client's back office stays private

3portals on one pipeline

Staff, clients and consultants each get their own door into the same project record — so a signed proposal is one event, not three conversations.

Every day without a great siteis a day of lost customers.
